Uche Sparks Straightforward Crystal Palace Win at Irish Side Shelbourne.

Even though embarking on their first-ever European adventure, Oliver Glasner's side are learning at a rapid pace. Missing star players like striker Jean-Philippe Mateta and defender Daniel Muñoz, the London club departed Dublin with a commanding result that all but secures them a place in the Europa Conference League playoffs.

Another three points in their next match against Finland's KuPS should be enough to secure direct entry to the knockout stages, especially following a prior setback against Strasbourg.

Squad Members Seize the Opportunity

This match offered a chance for some of Palace's fringe players to shine. Christantus Uche, in only his second beginning after arriving on loan from Getafe, opened the scoring with a well-taken goal. Striker Eddie Nketiah added a another, finding the net for the second consecutive match.

The Shelbourne team that had finished their league season proved no match against a mostly rotated Palace outfit. The visitors were already depleted by the reports that Mateta and Muñoz are out with leg injuries.

Dominance Asserted from the Start

In spite of torrential rain in Dublin, Palace quickly established dominance. A slick move in the 11th minute, initiated by Daichi Kamada's clever pass, allowed Nketiah to lay on Uche for a simple tap-in.

Midfielder Adam Wharton went close minutes later, fizzing a powerful effort over the bar. Nketiah subsequently appealed for a penalty after bursting into the area, but the referee dismissed the protests.

The formerArsenal man didn't need to wait long to find his goal, prodding home from close range after Uche's shot had struck the post.

The home side were hanging on desperately. Defender Kameron Ledwidge was fortunate to avoid a booking for a couple of robust challenges on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards struck the woodwork with a header from a corner.

Pino Seals the Contest

The match was effectively over eight minutes before half-time. Yeremy Pino meandered past some weak challenges before calmly slotting a shot past goalkeeper Wessel Speel to make it 3-0.

Following the break, manager Oliver Glasner took the chance to withdraw key players like Kamada and Wharton. Substitute Romain Esse came close to scoring his very first touch, but saw his effort blocked.

Esse was desperately unlucky later on, seeing one attempt crash off both posts before being clasped on the line. Uche then blazed a sitter of a chance, indicating there is still scope for development in his game.

A solitary worry for Palace was a late knock to Justin Devenny, who limped off. This allowed 17-year-old forward Benji Casey to make his senior debut, capping an otherwise perfect evening for the visiting side.
