From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a diverse cast of heroes, and a exciting storyline including angels, fiends, and sinister influences growing in power within Dol-Makjar.
Heads-up: Revealing details for the latest installment of Campaign 4 lie ahead.
The Combat-Oriented Party Unveiled
The latest chapter ended with a dramatic pause and revealed the first table of characters who will separate from the primary party to undertake their independent quest, distinct from the remaining groups.
This warrior group features the determined fighter (portrayed by Travis Willingham), Thimble (Laura), the fierce warrior (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (Robbie).
The Reason for Division
With a large ensemble, it was obvious from the beginning that having everyone at a single group would be unworkable.
That’s why, the opening chapters of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, intertwining the characters’ stories before dividing into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Strategists, and Questers.
Characteristics of the Combat Party
According to the DM, the combat-focused party is for players who enjoy a traditionally charged fight-heavy story mode where peaceful solutions are rare.
Initially, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander might seem unsuited, but the actions of the third episode demonstrate why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the combat party.
Why They Must Go
For one thing, the group knows exactly where to proceed after a brutal initial meeting with the antagonists.
A former ally of the deceased character—whose passing kicked off the narrative’s action—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his own means, breaking into the hidden lair, assaulting Thimble, and swiping all the enchanted items to auction.
The traitor then settled his debts and ran away to a fortified location in the remote area, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.
Character Drivers
Additionally, each adventurer has a individual motive to leave the city Dol-Makjar:
- The agile hero, as the companion and best friend, desires vengeance.
- The adventurer is familiar with Timmony and cautions that it is a hostile environment.
- Tyranny and Wicander, having resisted his relatives’ demands to kill the target and instead rescued him, have no other options.
- However, their position as key figures in House Halovar could assist the party enter locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Furthermore, The grateful character swore a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his deliverance and will now go with him wherever.
Fugitives
Finally, all of them are sought by the powers that control the setting for a multiple motives, making remaining behind dangerous:
- The agile adventurer and The character are notorious outlaws.
- The strong figure and The healer betrayed the influential house and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
- The target is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.
This leaves them no alternative but to head to the northern region in search of Casimir.
Future Episodes
Based on episode three’s follow-up content, we discover that the Soldiers table will not appear the following episode, leaving the other eight participants to round up the Seekers and Schemers tables.
Viewers can expect finding out which adventurers will be in which group in the story’s concluding setup installment, available to watch on next week.
